8:48 pm - I learned something important yesterday
I learned something important yesterday.

Although your parents aren't quite as tall as you remember them being when you were a kid,

Your backyard isn't quite as vast,

And dirt isn't quite so much fun...

Funfetti birthday cake is 100% as delicious as you remember it being.

4:07 pm - Hey
For those of you who are in the Lafayette area and are also on Facebook, I started up a Facebook fan page for WLFI. It updates with our most recent Local, Sports, Interview, and Living Green stories.

If you're interested in keeping up on local news, I/we are sort of hoping this will make it more convenient? ^_^

Oh well, just thought I'd mention it in case anyone was interested.

I know I've been terribly remiss in posting since I got my job. Sorry! I'll post more later, but I just did a full-screen graphic with a picture of a local student who was killed by a drunk driver. I know nothing about her other than that she was killed while driving sober by some asshole who is still alive, but at least the image of her going out on the news has been properly color-corrected.

It's sad that that's probably the nicest thing I can do for her & her family.

6:22 pm - What I have decided today:
Your average politician is less capable at creating a website (or hiring someone to create a website) than your average videogame fan. I've been looking over the websites for the candidates for Indiana Governor and the congressional elections for my districts and the sites are awful. They do not convey information well at all, they're hard to navigate, and they're short on content.

I'm really tempted to go into politics.

10:35 am - Quick post
This will be incomprehensible to those of you who didn't read any of the Redwall books when you were younger. However, for the rest of you...

...look, it's Matthias the Warrior, IRL!

10:49 pm - Magic the Gathering.... =D
It was Lee's birthday yesterday, and as a gift my parents decided to pay Lee & my entry to the Shards of Alara release event. A store in our area was running a 2-Headed Giant sealed release so we could play as a team.

So we went to that...

...and we came in 2nd and got 8 Booster Packs as prizes!

And then we did a draft afterward, for various reasons...

...and I came in first, and got 5 more Booster Packs as prizes!

13 prize packs! That's like... $52 in prizes!!! Winner =)

It was, as Lee said, a fantastic birthday gift. =) We had a lot of fun. Also, I really like Shards of Alara. Both the red-green-white and the green-red-black shards are very much to my taste, and the set is surprisingly fun to draft.

3:20 pm - Bejeweled + WoW
Bejeweled Addon for WoW.

Possibly the most evil thing I have seen in a long time
-it's free
-it functions flawlessly
-you get a "Guild" high-score table
-you get "Bejeweledcrafting skillups" when you do good in the game

Separately either Bejeweled or WoW is very addictive... who knows what force the two of them may have when their powers are joined????

6:49 pm - Brain...storms?
I wish there was a party I needed to mail out invites for. I would invite people over for "Games, cake, and good times!"

Then, when they got there there would be brownies and ice cream and maybe some jelly beans and a small sign that says "Sorry, the cake was a lie."

Hrrmm... what is interesting. WoW Beta is fun. I have not yet found a job. These facts ARE NOT RELATED, I've been trying hard. Hopefully soon though.

That's about it I suppose! =) Just felt like I hadn't posted in a while.

This entry is being posted from Google Chrome.

So far, it is a beast, especially since I have a dual-monitor setup.

Here is a comic book all about Google Chrome, drawn by Scott McCloud:

7:59 pm - =D
Back from the honeymoon! It was fantastic! Pictures of that later.

I am very very happy. =) This whole marriage idea was a very good plan, though I may need some input on the new half of my signature sometime soon (not the substance, just the style).

A preliminary slideshow of wedding pics is available here!

10:18 am - Getting close!!!
I'm so excited, we're going to decorate the hall in like a half an hour!!

Oh wow this is crazy. But in a good way.

My dress is hanging up in my sister's room, so Lee is not allowed in there. I am not allowed in there because of some Secret Project of my sister's, but I know my dress is there and it makes me happy.

Three more days!

12:21 am - updates
Just an update on the invitee & guest issue, he didn't realize his putative guest had maintained his poor relationship with me, and, when notified, said that he would not be bringing said guest, so that's a relief.

Everyone I know has lost their marbles.

"Have you gotten X done? You haven't??? OH NO!!!!"

*same person 15 minutes later*
"Erin, just calm down, I don't know why you're stressed out, everything will be fine."

I am looking forward very much to the actual day tho. The leadup is not so fun, but the day should be awesome. =)

11:41 pm - woo woo!
The doctors gave me hydrocodone for my wisdom teeth removal and I took one pill right after (as directed) and finally broke down and took another this evening, and MAN DO I FEEL GREAT NOW!!!!

Yay painkillers!!

12:26 pm - Ittai
Had my wisdom teeth out Tuesday morning. The good news is the IV (which I was wussing out about big time) was practically painless and I don't even have a bruise and I didn't have to watch them put it in. The procedure also went well, from what I hear.

The bad news is that my face huuuuurts. ^_^;

Hopefully I'll be better by tomorrow afternoon for the library booksale, but ehhh, we'll see.

I've been having a bit of a debate myself over whether or not I ought to tan, just a bit, before the wedding. I'm not talking really tan (no Malibu Barbie Bronze), just a smidgeon. I think I look fine the way I am (and Lee agrees) but my mom is concerned about how the wedding photos will look with my extremely pale skin. She's been right about other photography issues in the past so I'm inclined to give her opinions weight... but on the other hand she's always been a much bigger fan of tanning than I am (she thinks pale is unhealthy in general, whilst I have the same opinion about overly tan people), and I think that her objections may be more personal than aesthetic.

Not really sure. Any input?

2:05 pm - Yay DnD
I DM'd a 4.0 DnD Campaign today for my younger bro and his pals. A good time was had by all. =)

I really like the way death is handled in the new system... you die either:
-after you get to a negative health value equal to half your hitpoints
-after you have failed three saves versus dying after going to negative hitpoints

It makes it a lot more exciting, especially since the first one to go negative was the cleric and no one else had training in the Heal skill. It gave them time to try to save him, but it also made them all freak out, especially after the ranger failed his first three attempts to stabilize the guy.

I am not sure if that was my favorite part or if it was having the higher-level NPC ranger point out to them that they had just killed the last guy who could tell them where the bandit camp full of loot was, or how heavily it was guarded. =) Hard call, both were fun.

I'm a good DM, I can tell. =) My players are paranoid already!

12:37 am - =(
So everything for the wedding preparation-wise is going pretty well. That's a good thing!

But Lee is down in Alabama at his summer job and I don't see him for the next 5 weeks, until 1 week before the wedding. It has only been a week so far and that's been long enough.

I guess on one hand it is a really good reminder of why I am marrying him... my life just is not as good without him around. ^_^;

By the by, I'm sooo thrilled to find out that American Gladiators is back on television! Anyone else been watching? Apparently there was a whole season of it after they restarted it that I completely missed! I can't believe that!

But I've been able to catch both episodes of the new season and they've been awesome. The winners of last season are back as Gladiators this season and the one guy, Rocket, is just insane on the Wall. You guys know how the Gladiators would typically climb up behind the contestants, grab a heel, and yank them down? Well, today there were two Chicago cops competing against each other, and one was being "chased" by Rocket. Instead of following him up, Rocket started climbing next to him, past him, then got ahead of him and kept him from getting higher while he taunted the officer and asked if he was going to give him a speeding ticket.

Even more awesome, they had a guy with one leg compete in the first episode. No, he didn't win, but he really did compete and he definitely didn't embarrass himself. He did pretty well and it was definitely inspiring to watch.

Oh, and it's being hosted by Hulk Hogan. =) I'm having so much fun watching it.

I graduated today. Everything went fine.

...somehow, I suspect a trick here. There's something very suspicious about that.

(In other news, my mom's no worse and also no better. Tests have been run. Thanks all for your prayers.)
